Mortar and Pestle
I admit that when it comes to cooking, I get most of my inspiration from the famous chefs that I love watching on TV. I’ve always seen them use mortar and pestles to bash, smash, and clobber different herbs and ingredients into pulp. Although it looked like fun, I wondered if it was really necessary and if it would make a worthwhile addition to my kitchen (as opposed to more junk!) I bought a cheap one from the pound store and after discovering how much I loved it, I invested in this beautiful marble mortar and pestle that I found on the Cast in Style website for £13. I love throwing different herbs and spices in mine and grinding it all together to make beautiful marinades and rubs. I have found that using the mortar and pestle brings out much more of the flavors and it really is as much fun as I thought it would be!

The Super Juicer is Super!

I love being able to make fresh juice on Sunday mornings when the family is enjoying our big traditional Sunday breakfast every morning. I have owned a juicer in the past and after the motor died, have since forfeited the battle to frozen juice. Not wanting to waste time or taste anymore, I bought the Super Juicer and am thrilled with it! You can easily place any fruits or vegetables in the top, and extracting the juice is as easy as pressing a button! Not only that but it also takes the pulp out for those finicky drinkers. I like to add vegetables to the fruit drinks and that way the kids also get a daily dose of those vegetables that they would never dream of eating! Carrots work especially well. I bought mine directly from the manufacturer for £195 and I wish I had bought it as soon as my last one broke!

Kitchen Gadgets from the Tool Shed
There are many wonderful kitchen gadgets on the market but there is one that I have been using for years that not many would consider as a kitchen tool but rather a workshop tool - these are pliers! I prefer the long nose type so that I can easily get into small spots with them if I need to but any kind of pliers and any brand of pliers will most likely do the job. I started using pliers in the kitchen to take the membrane off the back of my ribs quickly and easily and now, I use them for so many things, including opening plastic bags that sometimes cause diffficulty to breaking the steam seal between a lid and a pot. I’m sure you could find a use in your kitchen for just about anything in your tool box but the pliers have to be my very favorite! You can pick a pair up for as cheap as three pounds!
A Mixer when you Need to Indulge

As much as I love finding things for my kitchen, it’s rare that I’ll spend more than a few pounds on a great gadget. However, there’s one mixer that I had to have and so I saved and saved and it’s been worth every penny! This mixer, which is an investment at £349, is the perfect mixer for your kitchen! Think “Martha Stewart” and you’ll know what kind of mixer it is!
Yes, it’s the kind you see on all the big cooking shows with the tilt-up head and different attachments. I really love the paddle attachment just because it’s the one kind you can’t get with any other mixer! It has a stainless steel bowl that is very easy to clean and with ten different speeds, you can mix whatever you want in it and the huge bowl makes mixing large quantities a snap! Although there are many mixers like this, I chose the KitchenAid model over others simply for its amazing look!
