Grate fresh Parmesan cheese onto your mounds of spaghetti just like the pros do! With this rotary stainless steel cheese grater, a small piece of cheese fits into the back and is held in place with a backing and while you turn the small knob on the side, the cheese is pressed through an open-end drum which allows the cheese to sprinkle down from the side in beautiful, thin ribbons. The drum locks in place while you’re using it, making sure that you won’t be fumbling around the gadget while using it and is still easily removed for cleaning, which can be done in the dishwasher. This wonderful tool can be found in just about any kitchenware store and are generally available for approximately £15.99.
Handy Microplanes in the Kitchen
I just had to get one of those handheld gadgets that lets you grate just about anything on earth when I first saw Emeril Lagasse use one about ten years ago. These microplanes are so good at grating all those things that a regular sized grater just isn’t suited for. I especially like to use mine to grate nutmeg because it’s so tiny, I have no fear of accidentally grating the tips of my fingers! I got my set from Sarah Raven and there were two in the set, both with coarse and fine grating sides. They have comfy plastic handles and an eyelet on each end so that you can hang them for your convenience! They also have protective sleeves so you needn’t worry about anything dulling the grater. They’re the best £30 I’ve ever spent in my kitchen!
