Mortar and Pestle

I admit that when it comes to cooking, I get most of my inspiration from the famous chefs that I love watching on TV. I’ve always seen them use mortar and pestles to bash, smash, and clobber different herbs and ingredients into pulp. Although it looked like fun, I wondered if it was really necessary and if it would make a worthwhile addition to my kitchen (as opposed to more junk!) I bought a cheap one from the pound store and after discovering how much I loved it, I invested in this beautiful marble mortar and pestle that I found on the Cast in Style website for £13. I love throwing different herbs and spices in mine and grinding it all together to make beautiful marinades and rubs. I have found that using the mortar and pestle brings out much more of the flavors and it really is as much fun as I thought it would be!
